USA part 2

We were up early on Tuesday 8th April to fly from New York west to San Francisco. After checking in to our hotel we walked into the centre calling in at David's Diner for a great brunch and fab 1940's music!

We checked out the trolley buses and the Big Bus Tour...

That evening we ate on the balcony at The Cheesecake Factory.

Wednesday and a trip to Alcatraz then lunch at Molinari Deli on Telegraph Hill.

We ended up doing the Big Bus Tour twice getting off at lots of different places including The Golden Gate Bridge. Two nights in San Francisco and 37,049 steps later!

We picked up a hire car and continued our adventure.

Drive down the West coast staying in Monterey for one night (10th April)

We drove the '17 mile drive' started off in sea mist as we left Monterey. Drove down the coast road Highway 1 and The Big Sur but ended up doing a 150 mile detour going back up to Carmel to take the Highway 101 to our next overnight stop at Pismo Beach. We missed our prebooked tour of Hearst Castle.

Luckily we drove back up the next morning to Hearts Castle and they squeezed us in for a tour. We visited the Sea Elephants at San Simeon too.

Our next stopover over was at Santa Barbara.

Up early to do a terrifying drive into Los Angeles! We visited the Observatory then checked in to our hotel for two nights. We ditched the car the next day!

Lots to see, yes, another Big Bus Tour, an emergency alert of an earthquake (scary getting the alert) our waiter at The Kimpton Everly, Alan told us of his favourite places to visit in the city, including the cemetery where many old Hollywood film stars are laid to rest! 

We flew from LA to Atlanta on the 15th April.
