happy New year!

Happy New Year to you All!

So 2016 has slipped quietly away and we start a fresh new year.
and so it is time for my annual review for 2016.

January and very little snow this year. a few walks and trips out, a glamorous evening at the launch of a Kate Lycett exhibition....1920's style and we said hello to my mum;s new rescue dog, Frankie.

February and the mild weather continued so we were out and about again. I met up with a friend in Manchester and Hubby and I met up with Diane and her other half for breakfast and a Classic Car Garage tour.

March and I started a Photography Course, The snow finally arrived! We took my mum to 30 St James Street in Liverpool for a Mothers Day Afternoon Tea, we visited my mother in law in Shropshire and we had some lovely walks. and I made an Easter tea for family.

 April and we had a great week in North Wales, we attended a 1940's event Near Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales and I finally got to see the wild daffodils in Farndale.

 May was classic cars, walks and meeting with friends. We also  went to Liverpool to see a commemorative live arts show to commemorate the May Blitz and of course the Haworth 1940's weekend.

June was a scorcher and we had some great days out including The Mersey River Festival, Brodsworth Hall,Saddleworth and Yorkshire dales. The roses were doing well in the garden and I managed a spa weekend with some friends.

July was busy. We had the most wonderful holiday in Kephalonia and phase one of our garden make over was started. I went with year six children to a commemorative learning activity about the Battle of the Somme, school finished for the summer with cocktails and we managed a few days out too!

 August and I flew off on a cruise with my mum for ten days visiting Prague, Hungary, Germany, Bratislava, Austria and finishing in Budapest. It was the Halifax agricultural show, Afternoon tea with friends,a day trip to York, Saddleworth Rush-bearing and walks and Phase one of the garden make over was complete. 

September and the weather started to turn. It was the annual village Michaelmas show, I made a little kitty for a friends 3rd birthday, school trips to Liverpool Maritime Museum and I attended a 3 evening course in engraving at Oldham Gallery.

October and we harvested the first plums from our plum tree, we did some planting in the garden, I attended not one but three workshops at Hope and Elvis, making angels, drawing trees and making fabric poppies. Lots of walking and a visit to The Hepworth in Wakefield.

November was Super Moon month, our 20th wedding anniversary, a sprinkling of snow and meeting up with old friends in Manchester. It was also when we had a trip of a lifetime to Abu Dhabi to watch the F1 Grand Prix final race of the season with lots of added VIP extras!

December was vary mild. Christmas was quiet but the run up to it was a bit hectic with lots of meeting with friends, afternoon tea at Cloud 23 in Manchester with my mum, visiting Wentworth Woodhouse, trips to the cinema and 1940's style lunch in Hebden Bridge. The days between Christmas and \new Year were filled with walks in the Yorkshire Dales and Saddleworth and visits to art galleries and YSP.

The babies have had a good year, all still very timid with strangers and still not straying too far from the house when they go out. They have given us so much joy this year.

Like I said we have been lucky enough to visit lots of beautiful places this year and I am glad I have had the chance to share it with you. Do keep reading in 2017....who knows what might happen?
