What do you mean it's August?
Yes here I go again....playing the catch up game.

so what did we do last month?
I made a cheese and onion pie......a Lancashire recipe.....it was baked in an AGA and unfortunately was a little over done but the family didn't seem to mind!

The glorious weather continued.......

and the fruit in the orchard has been growing.....

 A lot of July was spent in the garden.....just as the previous months.

 We opened the patio doors for the first time in a few years.....the cats were confused!

 I tried to pack for a forth coming trip but Misty had other ideas....

Class one

 The projects at school were coming to an end as we neared the end of the school year.

 There were a few outing too.....this was Class 5's sponsored walk (8 miles in fancy dress!)

 There was a trip to our favourite nursery to pick a few plants for the new border in the garden.

 And we continued to have plenty of meals outside as the heatwave continued.

 I was sad to see the moors on the way home from school ablaze for a few days.....thankfully now under control.

 and it was the time of year when I was grateful to receive lots of lovely cards and gifts from children, parents and work colleagues.

 The fire surround and tiling were finally finished.....all we need now is  a new rug!

I started to attend Aqua Fit at a local swimming pool.....I was really motivated and went twice a week......unfortunately I have lapsed because of holidays but I plan to become a member and that way get back into it in September.

 Oh dear........had strawberries and salted caramel ice cream a few ties....purely to cool down, and it is at least fruit!!

 another end of school trip was to Cannon Hall Farm. The children in class 3 loved it!

 and then the day after I went with class 5 to Blackpool Pleasure beach!

 I attended a Calligraphy Workshop at Touchstones with a friend.

 and Hubby and I had an evening at the Lowry watching the Agatha Christie Play, 'Love from a Stranger'

  and a meal!

 Then it was a day out in Manchester with work colleagues to say goodbye as one flies the nest and leaves us for a new and exciting job elsewhere.

 We had great fun escaping from a locked room.....

 followed by cocktails......

 Then a delicious meal!

 followed by.....one last drink before heading home.

This was the gift a group of us got for our friend as a leaving present. A framed cartoon of us all by the very talented Janet Wright. Can you guess which one is me?

 last day and an emotional farewell to Year 6 and some dear friends.....needed a cocktail!

and finally we said good bye to two members of our family. It knocked us for six and has been a very emotional few weeks since. I don't want to go into detail here as I don't think it is the right place and I want this to be a happy place to come to for any readers including myself but I wanted to acknowledge it.
