So on the 1st of July 2021 I started a challenge.
One Million Steps for Diabetes.
But let me take you back to 2020...I know, no one wants to go back there! During Lockdown when we were only allowed out locally we started to walk from our house and explore our local area. It was lovely to find places so close to home to walk, discover new lanes and footpaths.
Then in February as the days became lighter I decided to try and walk for exercise and walk to the village and back after work. It was a nice enough walk but the road is the Main A58 and very busy so it wasn't a very pleasant walk.
Then I decided to walk the other way...along the main road a little then up Stubbings Lane, along Sandy Dyke Lane, up Oak Lane then back down Saw Hill and home. This became my regular walk after work. Then as spring arrived I started to walk further afield.I bought a FitBit in early June and started to get slightly obsessed with walking when ever I could. I signed up for the Challenge and before I knew it my lovely friends had donate £230 in Sponsor money and I am nearing my first 100,000 steps, and I have lost over a stone in weight.
It has been an amazing adventure. I have always loved where we live but I love it even more, I am still finding footpaths and lanes I have never noticed. I have taken many, many photos along the way and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. So along the way I have seen lots of beautiful flowers, from bare trees to snowdrops, then the daffodils and then blossom. Then came the bluebells and the new green shoots on the trees. Now we have roses and buttercups.and as well as Flora there was Fauna
And of course the beautiful scenery...
