Welcome to Gander Cottage. A holiday cottage on Westport Farm in Somerset and our home for a week at the beginning of August.
At the back of the cottage is a small orchard where Colin the cockerel and his lady friends live.
The nearest town is Ilminster.
On the Sunday we drove south to Devon.
We went to Seaton Tramway
Then lunch at the Ship Inn
Then we popped to Beer, a lovely village on the coast before heading towards Sidmouth and the Donkey Sanctuary.
The we called in at Branscombe. We parked near to the church and walked up the very pretty street full of flowers!
Then we headed back to the farm for a cider!
The next day was busy....two National Trust properties to be visited....
The first was only a few minutes from the cottage. Barrington Hall has links with the Lyle family from Tate and Lyle fame.
Then onto near by Lytes Cary Manor and Arts and Crafts Garden.
The next day was forecast Rain all day.....a museum was needed!
Luckily for us there were a few around. The one Hubby was desperate to see was the Haynes Motor Museum....full to the brim of classic cars!
Back at the cottage we had another cider and noticed Burrow Hill across the field in front of our cottage, we had read about it earlier in the day.
