So off I popped to Diane's house.
No silly! this isn't Diane's house, this is Wentworth Woodhouse.
You see Diane is somewhat of a local history expert and before we ate we had a lovely evening
stroll around the grounds and the very pretty village.
From the moment I arrived at Diane's house until I went to bed (reluctantly) we never stopped talking. We may not be very old friends but I consider her to be a very good friend. We may not have lots of past history but we have so much in common it feels as if we have.
Back to the walk. The village has some pretty buildings many are still painted the estate green.
It was a lovely evening being a little cooler (although they had not had the rain and hail we had had a few miles away) and people were out on the allotments.
We were lucky enough to find the doors of the old church open so we could explore inside. The old Holy Trinity church in Wentworth was neglected when the new church was built in 1877 but is now looked after by the Church Conservation Trust.
The 15th century church has many fine monuments and some very interesting ones too.
Like this head stone above of William Cooper who died in 1871 who left these instructions on the back of his stone in case it was to ever fall over!
Just across the lane is the new church.
Then we headed back to the car as our tummies were beginning to rumble.
I had brought a Lancashire Hot Pot and Diane had made the most delicious pudding.
Homemade chocolate brownie (with added surprise), raspberries and homemade earl grey ice cream!
It was so good I had to show you two photos of it! We ate outside in the garden (no photos of us at all were taken and none of the hot pot, non-alcoholic Pimms, sparkling apple juice or Diane's house..... sorry we were too busy talking!)
After being made comfortable with Daniel Craig I drifted off to sleep a happy lady.
After a delicious breakfast again eaten in the garden I left for day two at Hope and Elvis.
Next time I go and visit Diane I won't book a workshop....we can talk, walk, eat, all day!
I had another lovely day with Janet Bolton. I sort of finished my rather pumped up sheep....he needs a bit doing too him (Janet advised me on the next stage)
and I started another!
She also went through how to mount the textile pictures and any details to add.
It was a tiny bit cooler but Louise had another treat for us....
and before I knew it
It was time to head home to my little lady and Hubby.
I told you I had a wonderful weekend didn't I?
Thursday was 'white cloud with the occasional break for the weak winter sun'.
But I was off to visit my friend Shan and have a great day out.
We had booked Afternoon Tea in the Sun Terrace at the Midland Hotel, Morecambe
It was a very grey, cold, windy day but that did not dampen our spirits.
First we had a walk along the stone jetty. It was a bit different to the last time I was here in this post.
It was too cold to linger outside so we headed indoors and the grandeur of the Art Deco Hotel.
Then we were shown to our table

And then Afternoon Tea arrived
I have to say the food was not quite as nice as the afternoon tea I had with Diane and Kathy in this post at the Raddison Hotel in Manchester last year.
But the ambience was perfect and won hands down!
Soft jazz music playing, perfect company, beautiful surroundings and CAKE!
What more can a girl ask?
Friday I spent at home.
I went into the garden for a little while until the drizzle got too much and I retreated indoors.
I did boring stuff such as washing, ironing and cleaning the oven but I also had some time in my room on the sewing machine.
I will do a separate post all about my Monthly Make as It is turning into a long tale.
On Saturday Hubby and I went to Keighley.
We went to Cliffe Castle Mansion and Museum.
A fascinating place full of Victorian curiosities.
