Day 28 and Day 29 in one!

I made a bit of a boo-boo in these 30 days, yesterday should of been Your Month in great detail and today was the Last Year in great detail! I think if you read my blog and was really interested in reading about my last month or year you could pop over to any of my posts to read what I was getting up too.
So I have sort of rolled them into that one previous post if you don't mind.
So Day 29 in 30 days/30 things is-
Hopes, Dreams and Plans for the next 365 days.
It's becoming less of a dream and more of a reality. We have the planning permission to build the side extension to the house. This means I will have a lovely new workroom.

A shiny new kitchen and dining room and a new room we will call a library (another little sitting room where we will keep the hundreds of books we have.)

I dream of putting my books in order!

I hope by this time next year my garden will look a lot less neglected and we can spend some time outside with friends and family.

The garden is in need of a bit of TLC

I hope to have room for friends and family to stay too.

These are our dreams hopes and plans for the next 365 days. It is taking over our life at the moment and all we seem to talk about. We have to have a Bat Survey done as well now!
Hubby says the extension will be done by Christmas then I have the fun bit of decorating it and making it look like one of those lovely places I read about in the magazines I pour over every month!

Day 26-Don't panic!

Day 26 in 30 days/30 things is-

Your Week in Great Detail.

DO NOT PANIC!!!!!
I realise that yesterdays post was in great detail, and only saved by the photos courtesy of Shan's camera. I don't think I can put you through a whole week in great detail but I will tell you about my week.

Last Saturday
Appointment at the hairdresser for a cut and colour then onto the shops to buy a new laptop-Heaven!
The afternoon was spent playing on said laptop.

Sunday was a very lazy day. We went for a drive then ended up at my in-laws for a cup of tea. We picked some gooseberries and black currents from their garden and went home.
That evening I watched the new series Sherlock

Monday I went food shopping, boring! then home to do a little sewing. I made this bunting for my god daughters birthday and started to do an applique notebook cover. I made a gooseberrry and black current crumble.

Tuesday I went to the dentist to see why my tooth was aching a week after I had had a small filling-he didn't know! He had a poke around at my tooth and put some horrid tasting stuff on it and I left! I enjoyed the first episode of BBC 1's The Deep on TV in the evening.

Wednesday was a lovely day spent with my mum. We went to Hale Village to take the dog for a walk. Hale village is not far from Speke in Liverpool but has kept it's rural charm. First we walked down to the old lighthouse, the River Mersey was once one of the busiest places and the lighthouse was needed to help guide the boats through.
It was last used in 1958.
As you can see Toffee found some water to paddle in!

Then it was a walk around the village. The church of St Mary's and its ancient churchyard.
The most visited grave is of The Childe of Hale (John Middleton).



Born in Hale in 1578 and before he was 20 his height was 9 foot 3 inches!


This was the cottage where he was born, and the story is he use to sleep with one foot out of each of the gable end windows.

There are many other beautiful buildings in Hale.
This is the Manor House.
and there are lots of lovely cottages, my mum wants to live in one of these! Then it was a short drive to Pickering's Pasture to pick damsons.

The blackberries could do with a bit of August sunshine before they are ready.

Thursday was posted in detail yesterday and today, Friday I have been to the shop for milk and bread and started finished my book cover only to start another. This afternoon I am going to tackle that huge amount of damsons!

Day 25 My day in great detail

Day 25 in 30 days/30 things is-

My day in great detail

Thursday 5th August 2010

4am Woke up by Lucy trying to catch a large moth trapped between the window and curtain.
4.01 am Helped Hubby catch the moth and chuck it out of the window, gave Lucy some cat biscuits and hope she goes back to sleep.
6.30am Woke by Hubby's alarm clock, put my head under the pillow and try and go back to sleep.
7.25 Woke by Hubby trying to get a shrew off the cat, I grab Lucy he grabs the shrew and takes it outside, I try to go back to sleep.
7.30 Say goodbye to Hubby, Lucy curls up at my feet and we drop of to sleep.
8.20 Wake up and go downstairs, feed the birds and Lucy, make my breakfast-Special K and raisins, take it into the lounge to eat it while flicking through the latest Sew-Hip magazine.
8.25 Make a cup of Earl Grey tea and turn lap top on, decide to put the fire on as it's feeling a bit Autumnal this morning.
8.30 Read emails then start to write this post. Save post so far.
8.45 Put the damsons collected yesterday into a large bowl to deal with tomorrow.
8.47 Wash up the dishes.
8.55 Take a tablet for nagging pain I have in my jaw (I didn't have it BEFORE I went to the dentist last week!)
8.56 Feed Lucy (she's a little and often sort of cat!)
9am Have shower, dry hair, decide the top I want to wear is in the ironing, go downstairs and iron it, back up stairs and get dressed.
9.30 Sit down and do a bit more of this post. Read latest Country Homes and Interiors then contemplate life without magazines, decide it's a fate worse than I can imagine and shake the idea out of my mind.
9.50 Go up to the greenhouse to water the veggies and have a potter. Smile a lot because the sun is out.
10.25 Text Shan to let her I will be at hers between 11.30 and noon, she texts me back, possibly adding an extra half hour onto my ETA (I'm very bad at time keeping!)
10.45 Postman arrived with two books I ordered from Amazon (more of those another time)
10.50 Finished this post up to here and closed down ready to leave for Shan's and a good KS day.

12.20pm Arrived at Shan's House. Had a show and tell session, she has been very, very busy making lots of things to sell next time she goes to Montserrat. Bunting, bags, cushions and lavender hearts I showed her the bunny rabbit I made a couple of weeks ago and my new books. (Shan let me steal her camera for the day-otherwise this would of been a very boring post!)

1pm Drove to Abakhan's in Preston. I managed to find a few pennies to spend on some more yarn for my crochet throw and a bargain bundle of 3 fabrics for 50p!

1.30 Left Preston and drove through the Lancashire countryside to arrive at The Ribchester Arms at 2.30pm

2.30-3.15 Lovely lunch and a good chat.

3.20 Walked around the village

and down to the River Ribble.

3.35 Went through the Ribchester Millennium Sculpture Garden.

3.45 We called in at The Ascot Studios, lots of lovey inspiring artwork.

4pm Popped into The Carmen Rose Tearooms for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.

4.30 Left Ribchester and drove towards Stoneyhurst college (JRR Tolkien was a frequent visitor here). We just had a nose from the drive but the gardens are open to the public.

5.30 Arrived back at Shan's house to swap ideas and information. Watched Neighbours. I downloaded the photos onto my laptop.
7pm Left Shan's.

8.10pm Arrived home, turned on computer, fed Lucy, text Shan to let her know I arrived home safely.
9pm Started to write this post while watching the Victorian Pharmacy.

At 10pm I will turn off the TV and lock the front door. Feed Lucy and turn off the lights. I will read my book in bed till about 10.30 and then switch off the light after a very busy day.

Day 24

Day 24 is-

Whatever tickles your fancy

Today I'm off to see my mum. We hope to pick some damsons for jam, if the rain stays away.

A bit of a moan first

Now I love my new lap top, it's wonderful-not least because it doesn't keep turning itself off every 10 minutes like my old one!

But it does have one fault. When I down load my photos onto Blogger, on my old one I could drag them into place but with this one (I think it's the updated Windows) I can't do that so I either have to download them last one first, till I download the first one I want on the post-so work backwards or I re-size them to be able to drag them over one another but then I can never get the original size right again!

Day 23 and the last bit of holiday

Day 23 in 30 days/30 things is-

a YouTube video.

I first saw Simon's cat through an email someone sent Hubby but now he has lots on YouTube, pop over to watch them, they are short but very funny cartoons.

The 'Cat Man Do' was the original one I saw and the first to be published.

I was looking back and realised that I hadn't shown you the last days of our holiday in June.

The A49 just outside Ludlow cuts through an ancient village called Bromfield.

It doesn't look much from the main road but if you stop and explore you will find a beautiful hamlet.

Below is the old Watermill, now sadly in a sad state.

Above is an old photo of what it use to look like. Below what it looked like when we visited.

And another old building, neglected and empty. It did look like someone had recently tried to renovate this one though.

The church of St Mary was once part of a 12th Century Priory.

And a visit to the Abbey Ruins, now in the care of English Heritage.

I am off to see my mum tomorrow, to go damson picking and on Thursday I'm going to visit Shan so my next 30 days entries may me a bit late!

Not just Day 22....

......day 22 in 30 days/30 things is-

A website.

Now I know I spend far too much time on the computer.

I spend too much money on Amazon,

I spend too much dreaming on this website,

I spend too much time playing on Big Huge Labs.

But the website I will choose today is Richard Bell's excellent website-Wild West Yorkshire
His sketchbook diary is a joy to look at and of course it's local to me. Pop over and take a look at his year so far.

In our garden earlier this year, I found a freak foxglove.


It's top flowers had joined together and made this strange but beautiful looking flower.
Now I am going to tell you a little about some trips out we took in June.

I was lucky enough to go with class 2 to Manchester Airport.

and I also went with the Reception class to Tropical World near Roundhey Park in Leeds.

Day 21 a recipe

Day 21 in 30 days/30 things is

A recipe.

I think I have already told you about my favourite cake to bake, but I will remind you of the recipe.

Luscious Lemon Cake.

Ingredients

4 oz soft margarine

6oz caster sugar

6oz self raising flour
4 tablespoons milk
2 large eggs
grated rind of 1 lemon
Syrup
3 rounded tablespoons icing sugar
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice Grease and line a 2lb loaf tin. Set the oven to 350F /gas mark 4.
Cream the sugar and margarine, add the eggs sifted flour, finely grated lemon rind and milk.

Mix well to a soft dropping consistency.

Put in the tin, smooth top and bake for 40-45 minutes until firm.

Mix sifted icing sugar and lemon juice and pour over the cake as soon as it comes out of the oven.

Leave in the tin until completely cold,

Slice and enjoy with a cup of tea!

Day 20

Day 20 in 30 days/30 things is-

A Hobby.

I would say I have many hobbies.
My painting, making things, collecting, gardening, baking and photography to name but a few.
I am going to share some of my photography with you today.

I only went over to a digital camera in 2006, before that I used a good Kodak film camera.

My camera now is nothing special, one day I will treat myself to a proper SLR, but there are many things higher on the list.

Hubby bought me a nice new, shiny, sparkly black laptop today!

I have been sewing a bit this week (but don't have a camera at the moment so can't photograph anything but will show you when I can).
