Holiday time!

 Yes we were brave enough to go away on holiday at the end of July and into the beginning of August.

Not abroad....we were not that brave (our trip to stay with friends in the USA was cancelled in May) Grab a cuppa and lets go and see what we got up to....

Bedale

We had a trip up to North Yorkshire, the Lake District and then for our second week we went to Warwickshire.

We visited the Yorkshire coast...

Saltburn-by-the-sea and Whitby.

We went to Richmond and lots of lovely drives along the dales, the B6270 was a particularly lovely road.

Hawes was busy....

After four days we drove to the Lake District via Appleby-in-Westmorland

Then on into the Lake District...

Ullswater for lunch then onto the hotel in Beetham

Our bedroom had an unusual feature....lids from old tins nailed to the floor where presumably there were holes to be covered....it was a very old Inn, it has been serving food and refreshments to visitors and guests since 1609.

We socially distanced, wore our masks and went in very few shops or cafes, we ate at the hotels we were staying at and enjoyed just driving around and site seeing. There were very few places of interest open to the public and those that were were pre-booked entry only. 

Week 2

Warwickshire. We stayed in a holiday let in Kings Coughton.

There was scones, jam and cream waiting for us!

next to the house was an oat field.....I got slightly obsessed with taking photos of it!

We ventured to Stratford-upon-Avon for a day....

Took a boat ride on the river....

Had a 1940's lunch with Beryl Ware.....

Took a peek through the gates of Shakespeare's house...

Later on in the day we had a little drive around stopping off at places that caught our eye....

Bourton-on the water, Stow-on-the Wold, Upper Slaughter, Lower Slaughter, Worcester, Tewkesbury, Bladon, Witney, Burford, Broardway, Oxford and Chipping Norton were some of the places we visited...

One day we went to The British Motor museum.....

I fell in love with this caravan!

And on our last evening we were treated to a wonderful sunset across the fields.

and in the morning.....

We went home via Bromyard, Brimfield and my mother in Law's in Church Stretton where we had a cup of tea with her in her beautiful garden.

So that was our two weeks away!
