Wet Weekend in West Yorkshire

Saturday morning and I had to be up early to drop Hubby off at the train station in Manchester.

It was 8am and the streets were deserted.

After I dropped him off I was able to take some photos

This is St John's Gardens a tranquil place hidden in the centre behind all the buildings and quite near the Granada ITV Studios.

After Manchester the next stop was Rochdale to get my haircut.

This sheep sculpture by Judith Bluck stands in the centre of the town.

Rochdale has been hit hard in recent years and a lot of shops have shut down.

Even it's lovely Art Gallery and Museum, Touchstones has cut it's opening hours.

It is a beautiful building.

Then it was home again.

It was lovely and sunny in Lancashire and I headed over the Pennines to West Yorkshire.

I had planned to do some gardening in the afternoon.

But I was unlucky and the showers were never far away.

Notice how I never show a large area of the garden, just close ups of the flowers...that's because it's a mess!

Sunday has been rain, rain, rain.
so I decided to play with my new sewing machine.

The view from the window was depressing
but I did have fun in my workroom.

Until Lucy wanted to sit on my knee....have you ever tried to use a sewing machine with a cat on your knee?

I had to give up!

What awful weather we are having in the UK? Real April showers.

At school we have managed to plant a few more trees on the rare fine days we have had.



My spring bulbs

With birthday money I bought......

...Yes a nice new sewing machine. There is nothing wrong with my old one but this one will let me do freestyle embroidery which I have been wanting to play with since my workshop at Hope and Elvis with Janet Clare last month.
Which leads me nicely onto My March Monthly Make which I also forgot to post!

Well it had to be my Easter Bonnet. I love the little rabbit I made from a pattern from Countryside Softies by Amy Adams.

I will do my April Monthly Make next week....just before the end of April!
I am sorry if I have not been to visit you recently but the time monsters have been about.

Sunshine and Showers

Warning this is a mixed up kind of post with lots of random things........
It has been a long first week back at school.

It is Earth Day on Sunday 22nd April.

In celebration we decided to plant some trees to create a woodland on the edge of our school playing field.

Of course it was a very wet miserable day on Friday

We got five of the 75 trees into the ground

They were donated by the Earth Restoration Service 25 each of English Oak, Small leaf Lime and Rowan.
But after five we were driven in by the rain.

Last weekend Hubby and I had better weather and did a tidy in the garden.

We washed the cold greenhouse and I replanted my Agave that had had babies.

We have a great show of tulips this year, mainly in pots.

 Remember this post when I got a bargain bag of tulip bulbs for £1 at the Christmas Market in Manchester?

And today the April Showers returned and I planted the potatoes in between the rain and dry spells.

Oh and I went to see my mum yesterday
