Gala Evening at The Monastery in Manchester

 We are waiting for the call from OFSTED at school and nerves are stretched to the limit. It does not help that we are starting to rehearse for the Christmas concerts and nativity play and the children think we are about to get snowed in.....wildly exaggerated rumours!

Anyway, I am staying late at school trying to get files, displays, scenery etc into some sort of order and so this leaves little time to myself.
Last Friday evening Hubby and I attended a Charity Gala Evening in aid of Ronald McDonald House Manchester at the Monastery.

The theme was 'all the fun of the fair' although the traffic was so bad that night we were a bit late getting there and missed some of the entertainment.

 We managed a lovely walk on the Sunday.

 We started in Crag Vale, and used our little walking guide book about walks near Hebden Bridge.

It was a beautiful cold clear day.
A couple of weeks ago we had some gales and there was evidence of tree damage as we walked up the valley.

We reached this lovely old clapper bridge across the brook.

and then climbed up the stone steps out of the woods and onto the hillside.

Passed this tumble down cottage it's old walls covered in moss.

 We arrive at the foot of Turley Holes and Higher House Moor and turned right following a ditch.

 The views were BIG

 and our shadows long!

 You can just about see Stoodley Pike monument in the photo above, on the hill way in the distance.

 We stop to find the exact view the photographer used for the booklet

 We then walk along a path with the moors to our left and Turley Holes edge to our right.

 The sun did not reach this side of the hill that day.

 Then we reached Withens Clough Reservoir.

 This was completed in 1894 for Morley Corporation.

 And then it was an easy walk along the lane back to Crag Vale.

 Passing some very grand houses on the way.

Another walk we did, a couple of weeks ago was a little closer to home, just over the hill behind us to be exact.

 it was a cold, cold day with a biting wind

 I will let the photos do the talking.

 And then it was Bonfire night.....We didn't make it to the one advertised....I lent out of our bedroom window to get these shots!
