songs and photos

Today the last surviving Andrews sister passed away.
As you know I love everything to do with the 1940's and the ladies are on my iTunes and I often play their songs.

When we went to Haworth last May, We listened to some fantastic singers called The Honeybirds.

They have a website here. They also have a CD with 5 great songs which I purchased last week......just not long enough and hope they bring out some more! 
Now onto other things on my mind this week.
Some keen-eyed people might have noticed I have a new link on my sidebar.

I am playing with Instagram at the moment.

I found the App on my iPad then put it on my Android phone and I am just enjoying playing with the App at the moment. If you want to follow me on Instagram just send a request as I have a privacy setting on but will get back to you.

New Shoes!

I don't put lots and lots of photos on....Lucy figures a lot!

Last Sunday it was my nephews 18th and we had a lovely family meal.

one last post with lots of snowy photos!

I can say there wont be any more for a few days as it has turned mild and it's raining as I type.

It was snowing as I drove home last night after work and it carried on all night. I looked out of the window as we went to bed at 12 o'clock and it was still snowing. 
But then it turned mild and we had quite a bright morning so after breakfast in bed we set off in search of snow before it all disappeared.

We parked not far from junction 22 on the M62
But took the footpath towards Green Withens Reservoir

 We had never done this walk before. 

We are lucky in that we have lots of reservoirs around here and Yorkshire Water are very good at maintaining walkways around and to them.

As usual there are lots of photos of Hubby's back!

Then the bitter wind got stronger and we headed back

Have we all had enough of it?

It looked so beautiful on Tuesday morning.

This was Hubby and the neighbours clearing the roads on Monday.

Lucy and I just pottered inside where it was warm.
We made them tea though!

These were the paper snowdrops I made (I used the instructions from Landscape magazine)

The drive to work on Tuesday was okay after the roads were cleared. The main road is always clear and I have only known it to be blocked by snow once since we moved here seven years ago.

The sky was lovely and blue and the sun came out while we were at school.

and I decided to stop and take some photos on the way home.

As you can see it was the great Pennines divide. Blue sky and sunshine in Lancashire, grey sky and a bit misty in Yorkshire.

I adore this row of trees along the main road and I have taken many photos of them at different times of the year.

Hubby informs me we are due more snow on Friday afternoon then it turns to rain for the weekend as it warms up a little. I do hope to be able to show you something other than snowy photos in the next few weeks as I have a workshop at Hope and Elvis coming up 
and guess what? 
I will be celebrating my 4th Blog anniversary on February 1st........shall we have a party?

Oh Dear!

7.30am this morning

we watched the weather forecast last night. We didn't think the snow would be a problem, so we did not move the cars down to the main road.

Oh dear, it was a problem as we had about 25cm of snow during the night and it is still falling. Hubby is out on the hill trying to clear it so we can at least get to work tomorrow. 

But No work today for either of us.
So a snow day at home. I want to make the most of this extra day....Lucy has other ideas and thinks it would be a very good idea to sit on my knee all day!
Yesterday we went for a walk. (if only the heavy snow had come a day earlier, we might of had a  really lovely winter walk in it - don't get me wrong we still had a nice winter walk, it was just a bit grey)

We walked locally so straight out of the door and up the lane to Kebroyd wood.

Then we walked to the village of Mill Bank (we have done this walk many many times.)

We called in at a friends house for a cup of coffee then carried on up the hill.

Then at Soyland we turned off the road and down the bridle path, looking a lot like Narnia.

I loved these rose hips in the hedge.

The oak tree had kept its golden leaves.

The sheep stayed under the tree in the field.

Then when we were back home I took some photos in the garden.

My witch hazel is flowering.

Golden in the snow.

So back to today.....

Hubby is out there with the neighbours clearing the snow from the road.....we might get to work tomorrow!
