Every Year my mum and I go damson picking.
We go to Pickerings Pasture.
Until the 1950's it was a salt marsh used to graze cattle then in the for the next 30 years it was used as an industrial and household waste tip.
Then it was reclaimed and now has a Green Flag Award.
A beautiful area of fields and wildflower meadows.
This year the blackberries looked a bit sad.
The weather has not been kind to fruit this year.
but there were lots of lovely seed heads.
and lots of beautiful wildflowers
The area is well used by the public and we met quite a few dog walkers.
We saw the geese from the bird hide looking across the scrape.
and looking the other way you can see the Runcorn Widnes Bridge.
Toffee had a great day, sniffing new smells.
although she was being watched!
Can anyone tell me what this wild flower above is called?
I think it starts out like this-
When we got to the trees........no damsons!
So I had to make do with taking home some of my mums beetroot from her allotment
and make some beetroot relish
instead of Damson Jam.
But I did make a few jam tarts with the last bit of jam in the house!
We went out on Sunday but I will tell you about that another time.
Blogger is getting on my nerves because it is not letting me put on photos. After a few it stops working and I have to log off and then go back in again, put on a few more then log off again...it has taken me all night to do this post!
I have one more week of freedom.
one more week to lie in until 8am

Did anyone see the brilliant drama on the BBC Best of men?
A moving and heartwarming drama about how the paralympics came into being.
I am really looking forward to them starting next week.
I managed a few days in the garden this week.
I pulled a few weeds and took photos of some flowers.

Look at this lovely patch of wild flowers I found while out and about locally
aren't they dreamy?
couldn't you just sit in amongst them and read a good book?
Well probably not these wildflowers....
they are slap bang in the centre of a busy duel carriageway!
What a brilliant idea!
they look wonderful and what fun to have wildflowers in a space usually covered in rubbish and grass at best.
I was on my way to Bankfield Museum when I spotted them.
Most of you know that Bankfield is one of my favourite galleries.
and the two exhibitions I went to see were excellent.

a community knitted and crocheted garden project (on at Bankfield until 9th September...so hurry!) it will be touring the country so if it lands near you go and see it.

Today has been such a depressing day.
Rain and grey all day.
I have no motivation.
Plenty I could do, plenty I need to do,
but just have no get up ond go......it got up and went!
