January and a fresh new year ahead

We are nearing the end of January. Not my favourite month to be honest but it has been ok this year. I have managed some evening walks after work which have helped with keeping me happy and I am not feeling the usual January Blues. The first bit of the post is about Walking....

I have decided to do two fundraising walks this spring.

I aim to walk 28 miles in February to raise funds for Alzheimer's Research UK and I am also doing the Feline Fit Challenge for the Yorkshire Cat Rescue. Both have fund raisers on my Facebook page.

I am walking and back at the local swimming pool. I have had quite a few sponsors already and enjoy knowing my family and friends support the charities I choose and also I love that I am getting fit and I'm loving exploring my local countryside.

I think you may be able to guess which daily exercise I plan to do!

Here are some photos from my walks after school so far this January. I have been taking my walking shoes to work with me then changing into them when I leave work and then stop off somewhere on the way home because if I went home to get changed I would run out of day light.
I just love walking on the top roads around Soyland.

As you can see I am seeing lots of lovely sunsets. We have not had that much rain, some snow, sleet  and frost.

A couple of cold but sunny days means it stays light just a little bit longer but I do sometimes near the end of my walk need to wear my hat with built in lights!

Blue Ball Road

and this weather does mean lots of lovely comfort food! Vegetable stew and dumplings.

Another evening I stopped off and walked up Pike End Road. I walked a little way down a footpath off the road that leads to these houses on the hill. I discovered a lovely milestone along the path. It was so cold though I had to cut the walk short and go back to my car after only a mile walk!

Last Saturday I woke early and decided to go for a long walk as it was a cold but sunny morning.

You could see in the valley where the sun didn't reach the frost stayed all day.

And new life is already beginning to show...Spring is just around the corner.
What else have we been up too...I don't walk all my spare time!
I made some vegan lemon biscuits for Hubby. (and some lemon cakes)
I pulled my back whilst clearing the snow off our driveway...The cats kept me company as I rested it all weekend.

The decorations came down and the house looked tidy again. I love the Christmas decorations but they take all day to put up and all day to take down!
Snow....yes we have an unexpected downfall one evening...

Getting to work the next day way a bit scary!

On sunny day during a maths lesson we had a visitor in the class room. A beautiful butterfly must have thought spring had arrived and started to flutter around, the children were very amused! I caught it and took it out to the school garden.

On the 1st of January we popped down to The Pines to see how the builder was getting along. Read about it on my other Blog here.
So that is our January so far...
